ACTION NEEDED-CALL YOUR SENATOR by 4/21
COLORADO SAFE ROUTES PASSES APPROPRIATIONS 6 to 3!!
ACTION NEEDED-CALL YOUR SENATOR by 4/21
This is our last hurdle and it may be the highest. We have worked so
hard to get this far. We either pass this bill now or get sent back to
the start.
This is the final call to action and it goes out to everyone. If you
haven’t been able to call your elected leaders yet, this is your chance.
If you already have made calls, don’t let that effort go for naught.
Your calls to Senators are working (see Appropriations Vote below)!
Contacting them is easy and they like hearing from citizens in their
districts. Your interest in this bill gives them the support they need
to vote in favor.
- Call and leave a brief voice mail or email for your Senator before
April 21
- Ask them to vote in support of House Bill 1309, Safe Routes to School
- Include your address so your input counts
TALKING POINTS
*11.5% of Colorado traffic fatalities are pedestrians and bicyclists yet
Colorado spends 0% of federal traffic safety funds on ped/bike safety
projects.
*Colorado needs this program since 60% of children used to bike and walk
to school, now less than 6% bike and 8% walk.
*No taxes are added or raised
Thanks for building support for the bill that will make Colorado safer
for kids and adults to bike and walk!

COLORADO SAFE ROUTES PASSES APPROPRIATIONS 6 to 3!!
First, a huge thank you goes to all the folks who live in the districts
of the Appropriation Senators. Your calls and emails made this victory
happen! Your contacts gained key “Yes” votes. THANK YOU!
Now the details…The Appropriations Committee passed HB 1309 early this
morning with a 6 to 3 vote.
Senators voting in favor of Safe Routes to School were Norma Anderson
(R-Dist. 22), Ken Chlouber (R-Dist. 4), Dan Grossman (D-Dist. 32), Moe
Keller (D-Dist. 20), Terry Phillips (D-Dist. 17), and Peggy Reeves
(D-Dist. 14).
Senators voting against Safe Routes to School were Dave Owen (R-Dist.
13), Ron Teck (R-Dist. 7), and Doug Lamborn (R-Dist. 9).
Senator Jim Dyer (R-Dist. 26) was unable to attend and was excused.
HB 1309 has passed in the full House and two Senate committees with
bi-partisan support. The last step is passing in the full Senate. We
have come so far and worked so hard to get to this point. This is the
final push, the sprint to the line; let’s finish strong and get this
bill passed!
