[BikeLongmont] I-25 North 40 EIS

Everyone,
	Greetings from Broomfield!

I read this announcement with interest, because we're going through a
similar process with the US36 EIS. For several years, myself and
several other bicycle advocates along this corridor have been promoting
the development of a 'bicycle freeway' alongside US36 when proposed
improvements are made (see http://www.denverboulderbikeway.org/).

In recognition of our efforts, myself and Neal Lurie have been invited
to join the "Alternative Modes Technical Working Group", which is the
committee that will make recommendations for bicycle facilities to the
final EIS Board (see http://www.us36eis.org). We'll obviously be
promoting construction of the bikeway and other bicycle access
improvements along the corridor.

I recommend you try to get someone from your org on the equivalent TWG
for your EIS. Undoubtedly, the City of Longmont is a member of the EIS
(the decision-making hierarchy is pretty complicated) and the person
representing the city in the EIS process may be willing to sponsor one
of you to be in the TWG.

It's a bit of a long shot, but one worth taking. If you really want to
keep people honest, be part of the process!

Good luck,
	Mike
