Hi,

Bicycle Longmont regular monthly meeting will be held this Wednesday,
February 11, 7PM, in the conference room in Longmont Public Library.

I won't be able to make it since I'll be out of town on a business trip
the whole week, but I hope there can be some discussion of the candidate
questionnaire for the upcoming elections. I looked at a number of
samples of questions various groups have been asking, as well as
suggestions from the group. Here is my rough draft:

1. Are you a cyclist? If so, what do you enjoy most about cycling in and
around Longmont (or Boulder County or Colorado, depending on the
candidate)?

2. What do you think is the biggest issue facing the bicyclists on the
roads in Longmont (Boulder County/Colorado)?

3. What programs would you support to make bicycling in Longmont
(Boulder County/Colorado) safer, more convenient and more enjoyable?

4. As the years go by, fewer and fewer children walk or bike to school,
while more and more children are obese. What programs would you support
to increase the opportunities for children to walk or bike to school?

5. The interchange at Hover Street and Ken Pratt/Diagonal can be tricky
for cyclists and pedestrians to navigate. This situation will become
worse once the restaurants along Clover Basin Drive and Dry Creek Drive
are open for business. What do you propose to mitigate the problems at
this bottleneck?

-----

These are all reasonably generic and can be posed to any local
candidate. If we decide to ask statewide candidates, perhaps we could
omit question 5.

It would be very nice is someone took notes and posted minutes to the
list.

If you can't attend the meeting, please post your thoughts and comments
to the mailing list.

Regards, Nenad
...your friendly Bicycle Longmont coordinator...
