Hey, Richard .
I live right on the Dry Creek trail (in Meadowview). You're right - the
trails that exist are very nice and actually useful, especially for going
west and connecting to 75th st., etc. I use that connection regularly when
going South to Boulder or to North to Hygiene, etc.
The most irksome "discontinuity" right now is further East, about a half
mile or so East of Airport Rd. As you may have discovered, the trail ends
abruptly at a wooden fence rather than continuing a mere 100 ft more along
the creek and connecting to Schlagel Road as it "should". The reason is
that the remaining few feet is in an unincorporated enclave within Longmont
and the county actually owns the right-of-way. I've discussed this with the
City, and the best-case scenario so far is that this area will probably be
annexed to Longmont within a few years. At that point we could make a good
case for connecting the path to the nice quiet streets to the East so that a
person could continue on through Willow Park, over to Hover, etc.
I'm looking forward to it - will make my trips to King Soopers much shorter!
Best Regards
. Craig
