Hi,
The Bicycle Longmont regular monthly meeting is this Wednesday, 7PM, in
the Longmont Public Library. We have a guest speaker to talk about the
Adopt-a-Rack program. See below for the announcement from Len. Thank
you, Len, for arranging it!
We have a chance to provide input to the program, so let me urge one and
all to turn out and make your opinions count!
Mailing list administrivia:
The list is getting spammed quite heavily. I have turned on the feature
that rejects posts from non-members without acknowledging. I get
notified, but due to the volume, I am not really looking at the
messages. The bottom line is, if you post from a different account than
the one you subscribed from, it will go into the bit bucket without
warning and I may not catch it.
Regards, Nenad
...your friendly Bicycle Longmont coordinator...
Here's the announcement from Len:
I am happy to announce Ben Ortiz as a guest speaker at our next Bicycle
Longmont meeting this Wednesday. Ben who is also located here in Public
Works Engineering is our resident Neighborhood Traffic Mitigation
Program Coordinator. As part of the evening agenda Ben would like to
discuss a preliminary proposal for a Citywide Adopt -a- Rack Program.
Below you will find the primary elements of the program , so plan to
attend and assist with any unforeseen details, placard design, and
whether the placard as demonstrated could cause problems for a cyclist
locking up their bike. A hands-on example of the U bicycle rack will be
available as part of the presentation.
Name of Project: Citywide Adopt-a-Rack Program
Purpose: To provide inverted U bicycle racks at all public facilities
and on the public right of way. The program is also designed to replace
nonconforming bicycle racks such as those the wheelbender racks placed
at the library
Method for Financing: Individuals, businesses, or organizations would
pay for the purchase of the rack, installation hardware, and the placard
advertising their name, business or organization. The sponsor of the
rack may select the site at which they want the rack placed assuming
availability.
Responsibilities of the City: The City would be responsible for
installing the bicycle racks at the predetermined locations.
