Richard and all - It's good to hear that the St Vrain trail extension is
being well received and used by local cyclists. Just so you know, we are
working on a crusher fines trail alignment from the concrete trail (near
the irrigation pumphouse) up to 1st Avenue. There are some land issues we
are working on, so I can't give you a definite timetable on when it will be
built. This trail will serve as a temporary connection until Martin Street
is built over the ST Vrain, which will happen sometime in the future (but
I'll bet sooner than you think).

Also, a reminder. We'll be starting the design of St Vrain Greenway Phase
7 later this year or early next year. This is expected run from the E end
of the newly opened trail to County Line Road. I'll let the group know
when public meetings are scheduled.

Thanks - Steve

The barricades and "Keep Out" signs have been removed and replaced with
balloons. The new trail is open!

It meanders east from Main Street around the ponds along the St. Vrain
River, with a soft surface path along the St. Vrain forming a loop.
Several walkers were on this loop.

The paved path continues east to the confluence with Lefthand Creek.
Numerous birds, bugs, and varmints are on this portion of the trail
amongst the wildflowers and plains grasses. I also saw a garter snake
that some @$#% saw fit to run over with his bike and a toad hopping
across the trail that I didn't stop to identify.

What would be very very very nice is some sort of shortcut up to Martin
Street or 1st Ave.

It's a beautiful day to ride.

RFM
