This is the bill that will help make bicycling safer and the rules a
little more sane in Colorado. District 11 representative Jack Pommer
has already indicated his support of this bill.
Other districts possibly represented on this list include:
District 10 (south of Longmont, west of 287 - Alice Madden - D)
District 12 ( south of Mtn View, approx east of Main - Paul Weismann - D)
District 13 (north of 66 AND west of 75th - Tom Plant - D)
District 48 (Weld County - Dale Hall - R)
District boundaries salamander all over the place so the boundaries
above are very approximate. You can enter your address in
http://www.vote-smart.org/ and get your exact district info and
contact info for your rep.
PLEASE CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVE on this bill. Believe it or not,
there is significant opposition to this bill, all of it based on
misunderstandings of the provisions of this bill. I've heard there's
been heckling and misinformation on talk radio about this bill.
If you email your rep, just say "Dear Mr. Smith. I live in district
XX at 999 Xyz Street in Longmont. Please vote for HB 1218. I thank you
for any action that increases the safety of bicyclists in Colorado."
Talking points: The existing law is needlessly complex; HB1218 will
simplify the law. HB1218 will protect children and adults who just
want to cross the street.
Please take action TODAY on this bill.
