Attention Boulder County Cyclists ---------------------------------------------------

Beginning on Wednesday, June 15 and continuing through Friday, July 15, Four Mile Canyon Drive will be closed to uphill bicycles from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The closure will not be in effect in the evenings, on weekends, or on Monday, July 4.

This closure is necessary due to paving operations that will start next week. Paving will require all traffic to use a very narrow single lane directly adjacent to the paving operations. Numerous large pavement trucks will be using the road in addition to normal motor vehicle traffic. Downhill cyclists are urged to use extreme caution through this section.

The closure will be signed at all approaches to Four Mile Canyon Drive including Logan Mill and Poorman. Cyclists using Poorman will need to wait for a downhill traffic before proceeding down Four Mile Canyon Drive. Failure to do this may result in significant conflict with paving equipment and/or uphill vehicle traffic. Uphill bicycle traffic will be prohibited from Poorman and from Logan Mill, once the paving operation reaches these locations.

* Four Mile Canyon Drive - Boulder Canyon Drive to Salina: Closed to uphill (northbound) bicycles, June 15 to July 15.

* Lefthand Canyon Drive - Olde Stage Road to James Canyon Drive: Paving completed last week. The roadway is open to all traffic with new pavement and new shoulders.

* 73rd / 75th Street - Niwot Road to Hwy 66: Paving has been completed. The roadway is open to all traffic with new pavement and new shoulders.

Please contact Tim Swope at Boulder County Transportation (tswope at co.boulder.co.us, 720.564.2658) if you have any questions about these projects or their impact on bicycle use.
