Actually, Mike, we had that conversation.  I asked if they really intended
it to be the seat tube, but then she said "put it on the thing that sticks
out of the bike that the seat attaches to".  So it seems to me that she was
instructed to tell people to put it on the seatpost.  I agree that it isn't
a big deal.  Would just not want to see someone reduce the chances of
recovering their bike by following the official instructions.
