The Village at Creekside development at LH and Sunset (on the former school
district property) will extend the crusher fines trail from the Watersong
development to Sunset St. as part of their work. The City maintains the
crusher fines trail from Hover to where it currently ends and will
ultimately accept maintenance for the trail to Sunset.
The ultimate concrete trail on the N side of LH Creek between Sunset and
Hover will be installed with the development of the adjacent commercial
properties. I haven't heard of any potential activity on that site. Once
installed, the City will ultimately assume maintenance.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks - Steve

[BikeLongmont] Bike path/trail
05/06/2005 06:03 closed between Sunset and Hover
PM
Just noticed today that the bike path/trail along the south side
of Lefthand Creek, between Sunset and Hover, is closed off due to
construction of the lot at the NW corner of Lefthand Creek and
Sunset Street. This is in SW Longmont, in the Creekside-ish
developments (I forgot all of the names).
This, I believe, is the lot that was sold by the St. Vrain Valley
School District to raise some cash a few years ago.
If you still need to travel this route, there is a rougher jeep-like
trail on the north side of the creek that will still get you to Hover.
Fine for fat-tired bikes, anyway, during periods of dry weather.
Does anyone know what the plans are for the future of the path along
the south side of the creek, once this construction is complete? Will
the creekside path that starts way back near the Rec Center be extended
all the way to Hover? Does the city maintain the packed-gravel portion
of this path that is close to Hover?
Thanks,
Peter Schow
